Apple is eyeing OpenAI and Anthropic to power its revamped Siri. The company might ditch its own AI tech for third-party models, Bloomberg reports.
The iPhone maker still works on “LLM Siri,” its in-house AI project. But it’s also testing versions of OpenAI’s and Anthropic’s models that can run on Apple’s cloud.
Apple pushed back its AI-enabled Siri launch from 2025 to 2026 or later after hitting technical snags. The company has trailed Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in the AI race for years.
Siri currently taps ChatGPT for tough questions, but Apple now looks ready for a deeper AI tie-in with outside developers.
