Cursor launched a web app Monday that lets users manage AI coding agents right from their browser. This expands the company’s reach beyond its popular AI-powered IDE.

The new app lets users assign coding tasks to background agents in natural language, track progress, and merge completed code—all via desktop or mobile. It builds on Cursor’s background agents launched in May and its Slack integration rolled out in June.

Andrew Milich, Cursor’s head of product engineering, told TechCrunch the Slack and web app tools aim to “remove the friction” for users who rely on Cursor.

Last month, Anysphere, Cursor’s parent company, announced over $500 million in annual recurring revenue and said more than half of the Fortune 500 use the product. Big names like NVIDIA, Uber, and Adobe are on board.

Anysphere recently introduced a $200-per-month Pro tier. The web app is available to Pro subscribers and above, but not free users.

Milich said users want Cursor “in more places” to solve more coding problems.

“You noted how customers want Cursor in more places. I think they also want Cursor to solve more of the problems they’re having,” said Milich.

Cursor’s background agents handle initial coding tasks autonomously. If they can’t finish a task, users pick up where the agent left off in the IDE. Each agent has a unique shareable link for teammates to track progress.

The company says it’s avoided the “demo-ware” trap other AI coding agents fell into, aiming for real, practical results.

In a recent Stratechery interview, CEO Michael Truell said he expects AI coding agents to handle at least 20% of a software engineer’s workload by 2026.
