Uber Eats rolls out sidewalk delivery robots in Atlanta with Serve Robotics. The launch went live Thursday, letting customers opt in for robot food delivery across Midtown, Old Fourth Ward, and Downtown Atlanta from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The move follows Uber and Waymo dropping a commercial robotaxi service in the city just two days earlier.

Serve Robotics, spun out of Uber in 2021 and now publicly traded, is part of Uber’s push to scale autonomous delivery. Uber reports an annual run rate of 1.5 million AV mobility and delivery trips across its network.

Atlanta is Serve’s fourth city after Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas Fort Worth. Unlike competitors focusing on college campuses, Serve targets dense urban sidewalks for bigger challenges and bigger revenue opportunities. CEO Ali Kashani told TechCrunch this is the reason behind their city-focused approach.

Serve isn’t disclosing how many bots hit Atlanta streets at launch but plans to grow from roughly 100 bots in Los Angeles to 2,000 across several markets by the end of 2025.

Available restaurants include Rreal Tacos, Ponko Chicken, and Shake Shack.
