Huawei predicts AIoT boom powered by 5G-Advanced at MWC Shanghai 2025.
Eric Zhao, Huawei Wireless VP and CMO, laid out the future of IoT fused with AI. He says the next five years will see cellular IoT explode, paired tightly with AI to create an "AIoT" era of smart, connected devices everywhere.
Zhao flagged three essentials:
- All-scenario IoT scaling connections across every environment
- Ultra-broadband 5G-A networks for real-time data uplinks with low latency
- Industry-specific AI applications transforming production and services
New tech like 5G RedCap and Ambient IoT will fuel devices needing fast, low-power connections. 5G-A networks will handle massive data flow between physical equipment and the cloud for AI training and inference.
Zhao pointed to a Guangdong factory using AI on 5G HD cameras to improve quality checks. That cut equipment repair by 20% and saved about $140K annually.
Huawei plans to team up with industry groups to push cellular IoT development and build an AIoT ecosystem.
Eric Zhao stated:
"They are: all-scenario IoT that expands IoT connections to all scenarios, ultra-broadband networks that link all data to the cloud and computing resources, and intelligent applications that are driven by industry-specific models."
"We will continue to work with industry partners to develop more converged applications of cellular IoT and AI."
"And we will develop a thriving ecosystem to usher in a new age of full intelligent IoT connectivity."
