Cluely just closed a $15M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, the startup announced Friday with a video on X.
Two investors not in the round told TechCrunch Cluely’s post-money valuation likely hits around $120M. A16z declined to confirm. Founder Roy Lee didn’t respond to requests for comment.
This new funding arrives two months after Cluely raised $5.3M in seed cash from Abstract Ventures and Susa Ventures.
The startup launched earlier this year, co-founded by 21-year-old Roy Lee and Neel Shanmugam. Both were suspended from Columbia University after building “Interview Coder,” an AI tool that helps engineers cheat on technical interviews undetected.
Cluely claims to help users cheat on job interviews, exams, and sales calls—and Lee says the company is already profitable through his X posts and podcasts.
Lee’s provocative social media antics and slick, controversial videos have fueled Cluely’s rapid awareness. In April, Lee released a sharply produced video showing him use an AI assistant to lie about his age and art knowledge on a fancy date.
This week, Cluely planned a huge party after Y Combinator’s AI Startup School. But police shut it down when about 2,000 people tried to enter, Lee told TechCrunch.
Roy Lee on the party shutdown:
“The police shut down the festivities
after around 2,000 people tried to enter the venue,” Lee said.
