IBM and The All England Lawn Tennis Club rolled out new AI features for Wimbledon 2025.

The big additions: a ‘Match Chat’ AI assistant and an enhanced ‘Likelihood to Win’ tool. Both debut for the upcoming tournament starting June 30.

‘Match Chat’ lets tennis fans ask real-time questions during singles matches. Queries like “Who converted more break points?” or “Who’s performing better?” get instant AI-powered answers. It’s live on the Wimbledon app and website.

The improved ‘Likelihood to Win’ updates projected win percentages throughout each game. It combines player stats, expert views, and match momentum using IBM tech, including Red Hat OpenShift for smooth scaling.

Both features run on IBM’s watsonx platform with large language models trained in Wimbledon’s style and tennis language. ‘Match Chat’ also reaches post-match analysis via IBM Slamtracker for select matches.

The goal: boost fan engagement by delivering actionable insights and fresh ways to follow matches live or after.

Usama Al-Qassab, Marketing Director at the All England Club, said:

“We are committed to providing fans with the best possible Wimbledon experience, whether they interact with us through TV, radio, digitally or within the grounds. The innovations we have introduced in recent years, driven by generative AI, in conjunction with IBM, allow us to provide more exciting ways for our hundreds of millions of fans around the world to interact with The Championships. This year’s new features will encourage the Wimbledon audience to immerse themselves and engage with all the match action like never before.”

Jonathan Adashek, IBM’s SVP of Marketing and Communications, added:

“Solutions like Match Chat and Likelihood to Win show how AI on watsonx can deliver tennis fans the compelling real-time insight and match engagement they want around this historic tournament and its players. Our 35-year partnership with the All England Club is another example of how IBM helps clients unlock and achieve lasting value from their unique data using AI.”

Wimbledon runs June 30 to July 13, 2025. Fans can try these AI features via the Wimbledon app or wimbledon.com.
