Apple is rolling out Visual Intelligence in iOS 26. The AI-powered image analysis tech hits iPhone screens with new image search and action shortcuts.
Open social apps, spot an item like a gray jacket, and press the screenshot button. Visual Intelligence scans the image and lets you search for the jacket on Google or your favorite apps. No manual upload needed.
It also grabs event details from images—date, time, location—and pre-fills calendar entries quickly. Plus, you can upload screenshots to ChatGPT for deeper analysis.
Craig Federighi, Apple’s head of software engineering, confirmed developers can plug their apps into this system. With App Intents, apps get integrated search access inside Visual Intelligence.
Craig Federighi stated:
“For developers, you can use App Intents to integrate search capabilities from your apps into this experience,” Federighi said onstage at WWDC. “We’re also making it possible for you to search visually across your most-used apps using Visual Intelligence with the iPhone camera.”
