Tesla’s Cybertruck sales have plummeted, leading to a surge of unsold vehicles. Rumor has it the company is using unusual locations to store its excess inventory.
One spot? A shopping center in Detroit. According to Crains Detroit Business, the center is now in violation of city code. It’s packed with shiny, unpurchased Cybertrucks where customers once shopped at Bed Bath & Beyond and Torrid.
The nearby Buffalo Wild Wings is still operational, though. This lot is close to a new Tesla showroom in West Bloomfield, possibly explaining the overflow.
The landlord has been notified of the city code violation, but enforcement might be slow.
Despite still leading the electric truck market, the Cybertruck isn’t meeting Elon Musk’s expectations. The vehicle has faced eight recalls within its first year. Coupled with Tesla’s brand issues due to Musk’s political ventures, things aren’t looking great on the sales front.
