OpenAI is set to hit the big screen. A film titled “Artificial” is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, focusing on the whirlwind events surrounding Sam Altman’s firing and quick rehiring as CEO.

Director Luca Guadagnino, known for hits like Call Me by Your Name, is reportedly in talks to helm the project. Casting discussions include Andrew Garfield for Altman, Monica Barbaro for former CTO Mira Murati, and Yura Borisov for Ilya Sutskever, who pushed for Altman’s ousting.

Screenplay duties fall to Simon Rich, a writer for Saturday Night Live, hinting that the film could feature comedic elements. Given the absurdity of AI’s developments and the events of November 2023, this approach could resonate well.

Fans are buzzing about how “Artificial” will capture this drama. The increasing relevance of AI tools like ChatGPT adds a layer of interest to the film’s potential reception.
